Wellington is the capital city of New Zealand and the country's second-largest urban area. Wellington stands at the southern tip of the North Island in the geographical centre of the country.
New Zealand's major financial institutions are divided between Wellington and Auckland and some organisations have headquarters in both cities. Wellington is often described as New Zealand's cultural centre, boasting a world class film and theatre industry, Te Papa (the Museum of New Zealand), the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and the Royal New Zealand Ballet. Its compact city centre supports an arts scene, café culture and nightlife much larger than most cities of a similar size.

How do I find a location quickly?
If you haven't already try installing the
flickr & geourl firefox extension. Whenever you're on a page with location information a globe in the status bar will light up and with one click you can see photos and websites near that location.

How do I get my website or photos on this page?
You need to either add
geourl meta tags to your web page or
tag your flickr photos with the city and country they were taken in.
Can I get one of those cool flash world maps for my own website?
Sure thing, you can download a
flash photoblog world map for your own website.
How did you build it?
Lots of late nights, calculus scribbled on random bits of paper and by patching together a number of great webservices and scripts.
Flickr API, geourl, minixml, cache lite, datarequestor. You can also read a description of how the map tries to find images at flickr on the main
flickr world map page.
I've found a bug!
Great stuff. The page is still under heavy development and the map results can be a little unpredictable. Help me out by sending the bug or error you've found to Mark from the
contact page.
